After those days the qāḍīs, the jurists, the shaykhs and some of the amīrs came out to meet us — they call amīrs "maliks", so that where the people of Egypt and elsewhere say "amīr" they say "malik" — and Shaykh Ẓahīr al-Dīn al-Zanjānī, who holds high rank with the Sultan, came out to meet us.
