We spent that night on the bank of the river, and the next morning the malik of the post came to us. His name was Dihqān, a native of Samarqand; it is he who writes to the Sultan with the news of that city and its district, what happens in it and who arrives there. I made his acquaintance and went in his company to the amīr of Multān.
