When we set about crossing this river and the baggage was being inspected, the inspection of my baggage weighed heavily on me, because there was nothing of value in it, yet in people's eyes it appeared large, and I disliked having it looked into. By the kindness of God Most High, one of the senior officers arrived on behalf of Quṭb al-Mulk, the lord of Multān, and ordered that I not be subjected to any search or inspection, and so it was. I praised God for the kindnesses He had prepared for me.
