Khalaf ibn Aḥmad had set squadrons of his army in ambush for him, and they surrounded him as al-Zabbāʾ's horsemen surrounded Jadhīma al-Waḍḍāḥ, until he ended up in his prison and was confined in the lair of his doom. He remained in prison in that state until his bier was carried out, it being alleged that he had killed himself and committed a crime against his own life and blood.
