درین لحظه غافل وبی خبر نشسته بوذم ، کوذکی بر شکل هزیمتیان از در خانه در آمذ ، مضطر ومدهوش ، برقان هیبت رویش زرد کرده ، وبرسام سیاست عقل وخرذ از وی برده ، سوگندان غلاظ وشداد بر من داذ ، کی مرا درین خانه پهان کن وجان مرا بصدقهٔ‌ جان خویش بخر! کی ظالمی متهور ، وقتالی متحیر ، بر عقب واثر من می آیذ ، وقصد حان من دارذ !

‘At that moment I was sitting heedless and unaware, when a boy, looking like a fugitive, came in through the door
of the house, distressed and distraught, the jaundice of dread having turned his face yellow, and the delirium
of punishment having stripped him of reason and intellect. He bound me with solemn and severe oaths, saying:
"Hide me in this house and redeem my life by the charity of your own life! For a rash oppressor,
a bewildered butcher, is pursuing my trail and seeks my life!"
