drinks from it, and the garden of delight draws freshness from the fount of his beauty and the pasture of his perfection;

A pearl in the ocean of royalty, a nightingale in the rose-garden of empire, sought from among
the treasures of good fortunes and the storehouses of the Creator's gifts, in supplication and humble entreaty from the presence of
the Lord of Glory, praying: 'My Lord, grant me from Yourself an heir,' and finding answer—
it is not fitting to hasten his destruction at the incitement of a talebearer and the slander of a seditious slanderer;
for after the execution of the resolve, regret and remorse over the loss of his person
will be of no profit or avail. Any tree, however deeply rooted and firmly fixed, may be uprooted in an hour,
yet it requires years for it to become fruitful and effective through the temperate nature of the air and the nurture of earth and water,
so that one may rest in its shade and derive benefit from its fruit.
And if the king acts hastily in this matter, he will be like that partridge who
killed his harmonious mate and affectionate consort without any guilt; and when the truth of the matter was investigated
and her innocence came to light, however much regret he felt over that rashness and haste,
it brought no gain or success, nor was the slain companion revived,
nor did the departed mate return." The king asked: "How was that story? Relate it!"
