تا رقت چنانک فتنه را خواب از چشم این بحر هزار چشمه را آب از چشم بر عالم قحط وجدب استیلا آورد ، وبر جهان نحوس وبوس مستولی شذ ، حبوب ولبوب نضج ونما نیافت ، وانواع ارتفاعات در مراتع ومزارع بحس ونقصان بذیرفت . کبگ بر با ماذه گفت : شرط عاقل وفرزانه آن بوذ کی مایحتاج اوقات زمستان ، در ایام تابستان مهیا کنذ ، ودر هنگام رفاهت 12 وراحت ساعات حال ، از شدت اوقات مستقبل اندیشه دارذ ، وتدبیر ادخار کنذ :

So diminished that, just as sleep [flees] from the eyes of discord, / water [fled] from the eye of this sea of a thousand springs.
Famine and drought seized mastery over the realm, and ill fortune and misery dominated the world;
grains and seeds attained no ripening or growth, and all kinds of yields in pastures and fields suffered loss
