الجوع ترضی الاسود بالحیف صعلوک باحتیاط تمام گام ر می داشت ، ودست تر پشت ستوران می نهاذ ، تا گذام فربهتر یابذ بر نشنیذ ، واز میان بیرون آرذ . در اثنای آن حست وجوی دست بر پشت شیر نهاذ ، بدست او از دیگر ستوران بهتر مموذ ، وفربهتر آمذ ؛ تر فور پای در پشت شیر آورد ، وبر وی سوار شذ؛ 2 وبتعجیل از میان ستوران بیرون راند ، وشیر از بیم شمشیر صعلوک روان گشت ، وصعلوک آن را در جر وجوی بشتاب می راند ، وشیر در نشیب وفراز از خوف حان ، سهل العنان وسلس القیاد اورا منقاد می بوذ :

"Hunger makes lions accept injustice."
The rogue took steps with utmost caution, and placed his hand on the backs of the mounts
to mount whichever he found fattest and lead it out from their midst. In the midst of that
search, he placed his hand upon the back of the lion; to his touch it seemed better than the other beasts
and felt fatter. Forthwith he threw his leg over the lion's back and mounted upon him,
and drove him out in haste from among the beasts. The lion, out of fear of the rogue's sword, began to move,
and the rogue drove him along rapidly through ditch and stream; and the lion, through descent
