The *Śukra-nīti* is another important work, which, though not an architectural treatise, deals largely with subjects relating to architecture and sculpture.⁵ It is a work on royal polity ascribed to an author, Śukrāchārya, whose age has not been clearly established. It appears to be anterior to the *Matsya-purāṇa* for the reason that the latter has included Śukra as one of its eighteen authorities.¹ The question of the identity of Śukrāchārya with this Śukra must necessarily come in. But there is hardly a satisfactory answer to give.
