In New Rājagṛiha a notable monument is the site of the citadel, 2000 ft. long and 1500 ft. broad, of which the stone walls retaining the earthen rampart are still in good order in many places and more massively and carefully built than the walls of the town. To the south-west of New Rājagṛiha Yuan Chwang had seen and described an Aśokan pillar (50 ft. high) with an elephant capital and also a Stūpa 60 ft. in height.
