The Śrauta Sūtras refer to workers in stone, manufacturing mortars and pestles, mill-stones and vessels. The Āśvalāyana Gṛihya Sūtra mentions four kinds of vessels, made of copper, other metals, stone or clay (Āśva GS. 4. 3. 18 ; 4. 7. 8).
