Translation.—When gandhara stands on the second sruti of madhyama, it becomes tivratara 'ga' and when it stands on the third sruti of that note it becomes tivratama 'ga'. When again it rises up to the fourth or last sruti of 'ma' it becomes ati-tivratama 'ga'.
