चतुर्विधाः स्वरा वादी संवादी च विवाद्यपि ।
अनुवादीति वादी तु प्रयोगे बहुलः स्वरः ।
अंशः स्थायीति पर्यायः रागोत्पादनहेतुकः ।
श्रुतयो द्वादशौवा ययोर्गतगोचराः ॥
मिथः संवादिनौ तौ स्तो गत्यादेश्चविभागतः ।
शेषाणामनुवादित्वं ज्ञेयमन्र्वथतः क्रमात् ॥
