The following are extracts from a note on the presumed chronology of the Ajanta and Ellora rock-architecture prepared recently by the Hon'ble Mr. Justice Edgley who has devoted some time to an investigation of the sequence in which these excavations were made. Appended is a table showing the dates of the chaityas and viharas according to Mr. Justice Edgley's researches and deductions.
