BHĒRUṆḌA PAKSHAYA. A ‘double-headed eagle,’ like the eagle in the arms of Russia and Austria. Fig. 18A, representing the flag of the Three Kōrales, shows very well its character. The form also appears in wood and ironwork, and *Bheruṇḍa* ornament very commonly in modern brass trays and plates. As a jewelled *pakshaya* pendant, it is not an unusual form (Pls. XXIII., 6 and XLVIII., 6).
