The palol is the tree of the Asuras; it is 100 yodun in height and breadth and has branches 15 yoduns in circumference. The imbul tree of the Guruḷas is of the same dimensions, so also the trees of the four great divisions of the earth, the damba (of Dambadiva) the kolon (of Aparagoyāna) the kap-ruka (of Uturukurudivayina) and the mahari tree (of Purvavideha). Of these I have seen representations only of the kaḍu-pul and parasatu. Perhaps the tree shown in Pl. XIV., 4 is the great damba of Dambadiva, that is, India.
