In reviewing the national music of any country, we cannot help being struck with the way in which special scales are employed, special graces worked in, all more or less varying in the music of different nations. In the music of India, owing to the multitude of scales or modes which it employs, a resemblance here and there can be traced to the music of nearly every country.
