II. — From a photograph taken by the author at the Lahore Museum (height of the original 1 metre) : it is the statue found by Col. Deane at Sikri, published already by M. E. SENART in the Journal Asiatique, febr.-march 1890, pl. III), and since reproduced by Dr BURGESS (J. I. A. I., 1898, pl. 3, 2). Notice the very ungraceful protuberance formed by the jewelled belt under the drapery. The difference of costume between the two figures of the plate arises from the fact that no. I, in addition to the long dhotī and shawl, wears also a tunic with sleeves, and even sleeves folded into little plaits.
