The *Kīrtanam* and the *Khyāl* that have been given above represent the highest flights of the professional musicians (*Ustāds*). Ordinary singers are content with humbler songs; and the following have been selected, out of twice their number in the books of the Poona Gayan Samāj (singing school), many of them for their beauty, others in order to give an idea of the principal Rāgs and Tāls.
