Asokan edicts also have been found in Maski in Lingasgur Taluka and Koppal, both in Raichur district and two adjacent villages namely Nittur and Udēgolam of Bellary district. That the very existences of these edicts containing the royal commands indicate that they were of considerable importance in the reign of the king. In these places also similar ancient habitation sites have been traced and excavations have been conducted in Maski (*AI* No.13, pp. 4-142), which reveal similar sequence of cultures as known from Brahmagiri.
