The Fort in Hāngal - The description and its critical analysis Hāngal, now a Taluka Headquarters in Dharwad District is historically important, atleast from the time of the Sātavāhana rule. In the fort area within the II enclosure, where there is a small structure associated with killing of Kīchaka by Bhīma - the *Mahābhārata* hero, are found scattered pottery such as Red-ware, Black and Red ware typical of the Early historical period.
