In all these places, there are forts but in ruins, of course. In Bādāmi, the celebrated inscription (Panchamukhi R.S. 1940, P.14) of Pulikēshi I dated (543 A.D.), who was probably the first to make Bādāmi as the capital refers to the construction of fort inaccessible from the top and bottom, by him.
