The *Reformatio* was the work of a commission appointed by Edward VI, and it was largely the work of Cranmer. It was divided into fifty-one titles, and it dealt with every aspect of the life of the Church, from the doctrine of the Trinity to the regulation of the clergy and the laity. It was a comprehensive attempt to create a new order for the Church of England, and it was based on the principle that the Church should be a godly society, governed by the Word of God and the laws of the realm.
