v2.c11.s8.45
⁵⁷ “Vīragaṇḍa’, an instance of popular etymology. South Indian Vāstuśāstras use a somewhat different terminology for the parts of the pillar. The word Vīrakaṇṭha however is retained (and translated by P. K. Acharya as “warrior’s neck”) in ‘Mānasāra’ XV; the name of the capital, Bodhikā (Poṭikā), derived from ‘awakening’ and ‘enlightenment’, refers to the liberation which is attained by passing across the Āmalaka as ring-stone and Mukti-dvāra.
