THE THIRD GROUP. The third family of temples (verses 21-46) adheres to the triple division in the vertical. The Kaṭi retains its name and position. Instead of the Jagaṭī however it is now the Mekhalā which forms the lowermost third of the structure. Another substitution is, it appears, of greater significance. The Kūṭa is replaced by a Valabhī.
