18. *Utthāpana Ekādaśī.* The eleventh of the month of Kārtika is the day on which Viṣṇu wakes from his four months' sleep and the ritual on this occasion is very much the same as that observed at Bhuvaneśvara (*ante*, p. [80]). The metal images are taken out of their bed, bathed, dressed and worshipped in due form.
