v2.c15.15

the Śaivas immigrated into the Toṇḍaimaṇḍala and the Choḷamaṇḍala. Since then an impetus was given to the spread of Śaivaism and a very large number of original works belonging to the Āgamānta school of Śaivaism was written. The Āmarddaka maṭha mentioned above is a famous one and had its branches all over India. For instance, mention is made of this in the Siddhāntasārāvaḷi and the Kriyākramadyōtini, as also in a number of inscriptions.
