v3.c19.198

The part kala in the name Kalavikaraṇi, means a limb, and vikaraṇi indicates absence. Hence Kalavikaraṇi means ‘free of limbs,’ that is, undivided. Indivisibility is the characteristic feature of ākāśa; therefore this goddess is made to represent ākāśa-tattva. Her lord and corresponding Mūrtiśvara is Bhīma. He is Kalavaraṇa, and his consort is Kalavikaraṇi.
