This topic of Mudrology has been attempted with some innovations here. It is said that Mudrās are charactristic of Buddhist and Jain images only. This has been refuted here and it has been held that what are called mudras in Buddhist Iconography like Varada, Vyākhana, Yoga, and Śānta, etc. are also characteristic of Brahmanical images like those of Brahmā and Yogic forms of Śiva.
