According to our angle of treatment, the first and foremost consideration has been given to the principal texts on Painting such as the Viṣṇudharmottaram, the Samarāṅgaṇa-Sūtradhāra, the Aparājita-pracchā, the Abhilaṣitārtha-Cintāmaṇi (or Mānasollāsa) and Śilpratna, wherein a brief review of all these works along with two more (as per Dr. Raghavan’s article) has been attempted, thus laying the foundation of the Citra-śāstra.
