In this cave are the painted figures of eight Buddhas rendered on the left wall of the shrine. These Buddhas are seated under appropriate *Bodhi*-trees and their names are recorded below the figures, which show that they were the seven omniscient (*sarvajña*) Buddhas and the future Buddha Maitreya.² The names are: (1) Vipaśvī, (2) Śikhī, (3) Viśvabhū[ḥ], (4) [Krakuchchhandaḥ*],³ (5) Ka[naka]muniḥ, (6) Kāśyapa[ḥ], (7) Śākyamuni[ḥ], and (8) Maitre[yaḥ.]
