The names *ātiraiyaṉ* and *āttiraya*[*ṉ*] (*ātirai* + *ayyaṉ*) which occur in two pottery inscriptions from Arikamedu³ are derived from the asterism (Ta.) *ātirai* < Skt. *ārudrā*.
