**a.** ***pā-*** (n.) 'expanse' (D. 4088). Cf. LT *pā aṭi yāṉai* 'elephant with broad feet' (*Puṟa.* 233:2). *-ṅ-* (< *-m-*) is an addition due to sandhi. Cf. *mā-ṅ-kāy* 'mango'.
