*Tepe Giyan*, near Nihavend, begins its occupation in Va with painted buff ware which seems to be early Halaf in date, and continues through Ubaid times to mid-Uruk in Vd, when the site was temporarily abandoned. Giyan V is generally comparable with Sialk III and in its last phase with Hissar I, described below – Giyan IV belongs to Early Dynastic Sumerian times and will be mentioned later.
