The burials at Nal were normally placed in the earth without any form of protection, but three of the complete inhumations (the adult and two infants already referred to) were enclosed in rectangular mud-brick graves, the individual bricks measuring 21 by 9 by 3½ inches. No trace of covering was detected. At Damb Buthi the fractional burials were contained in contiguous small rectangular stone-built chambers, about 5 by 8 feet, presumably analogous to the brick constructions at Nal, though the possibility of their being really rooms of abandoned dwellings must not be excluded.
