There are names of other phonetical works treating of Vedic pronunciation and recitation. The *Ukthādi-gaṇa* (IV.2.60) refers to students of Saṁhitā, Pada, and Krama. The word *Krametara*, was applied to the recitation of texts 'other than Krama'. The technical term for instruction and exercise in recitation was *charchā* (III.3.105; also in the *Ukthādi* group). The *Charaṇavyūha* refers to instruction in recitation depending on (1) *charchā* (exercise), (2) *śrāvaka* (the teacher reciting), (3) *charchaka* (the pupil repeating), and (4) *śravaṇīyapāra* (completion of recitation). A student who qualified in *charchā* (regulated recitation) was called *charchika* (IV.2.60).
