(2) *Asura*. It is a generic name but in this case may be identified with the name of the Assyrians, whose country formed part of the Persian empire in the fifth century B.C. and is mentioned in the Behistun inscription as Old-Persian *Athurā*, and in Susian as *Aṣṣura*.
