Karka's councillors were vicious, (50) and his own character was probably not much different. This must have alienated the sympathies of his subjects and feudatories. Some of the Rāṣṭrakūṭa kinsmen must have espoused the cause of his enemy Taila, because the latter's wife Jākavvā was the daughter of Bhammaha or Brahmahara, who was a Rāṣṭrakūṭa chief. The prestige of the Rāṣṭrakūṭa arms was besides completely shattered by the occupation and plunder of the capital by the Paramāras a couple of years before.
