In A.D. 1510 Yúsuf Ádil Khán died, leaving a son, Ismáil, who at the time of his father's death was too young to assume the reins of government. Kámál Khán Dakhani was appointed protector, but soon aspired to supplant his master. His arrangements for deposing Ismáil Ádil Khán and proclaiming himself king were completed, when he was assassinated by an emissary from the queen-mother.³ Though Kámál Khán's mother and his son Safdar Jang concealed the fact of his death and attempted to carry out the plot as had been planned, their efforts resulted in the death of Safdar Jang and the complete dispersion of their party.
