¹ In the Aihole inscription of Pulikēśin II., and in various other records, the family or dynastic name is written Gūrjara,—with the long ū. But, in the records of the family itself, it is written Gurjara,—with the short u. And this form, which was accepted by Dr. Bühler, is doubtless the correct one.
