And the third is the grant, from the Gôdâvarî District, Madras, of the *Râja* Prithivimûla, son of the *Mahârâja* Prabhâkara.⁴ It was issued from a town named Kâṇḍâḷi; it is dated in the twenty-fifth year of some unspecified reign; and it records a grant, to Brâhmaṇs, of the village of Chûyipâka in the Tâḷupâka *vishaya*. Prithivimûla is described as a *paramamâhêśvara* or most devout worshipper of the god Mahêśvara (Śiva). And the record recites that the grant was made at the request of a certain *Adhirâja* named Indra, who was a son of Mitavarman and belonged to a family that dwelt at a town named Maṇalkuḍi, and who overthrew the elephant Kumuda that came against the elephant Supratîka⁵ which was ridden by himself in the tumultuous combat waged by all the kings who had assembled together to uproot Indra-Bhaṭṭâraka. The reference here seems to be to Indra-Bhaṭṭâraka of the Eastern Chalukya dynasty, who reigned for seven days in A. D. 663.⁶ And the *Adhirâja* Indra is possibly either the first or the second *Mahârâja* Indravarman of the Gaṅga dynasty of Kaliṅganagara.⁷
