Hemâdri has not yet been forgotten in the Marâṭhâ country. He is popularly known by the name of Hemâḍpant and old temples throughout the country of a certain structure are attributed to him. He is said to have introduced the Moḍi or the current form of writing and is believed to have brought it from Laṅkâ or Ceylon. As chief secretary he had to superintend the writing of official papers and records, and it is possible he may have introduced some improvements in the mode of writing.
