(iii) The Nowgong grant of Bala Varman. This was brought to light by me in 1895 and was described by the late Dr. Hœrnle in the Journal of the same Society for 1897, Part I, page 285. On palæographical groups Hœrnle thought that this inscription was prepared about 990 A.D.
