'Alī Khān and Abu Bakr, brothers of Muhammad Khān, the independent ruler of the small state of Nāgaur, had conspired against their brother and, on their guilt being detected, fled to Sikandar's court and endeavoured to enlist his aid by stories of Muhammad's tyranny, but he adroitly forestalled them by sending gifts to Sikandar and acknowledging him as their sovereign.
