¹³⁰ *Burhan-i-Ma'asir*, l. c. Briggs, Ferishta, l. c., note * says that "the real head (of Rama Raya), annually covered with oil and red pigment, has been exhibited to the pious Muhammadans of Ahmadnagar on the anniversary of the battle, for the last two hundred and fifty four years, by the descendants of the executioner, in whose hands it has remained till the present period". This was written in 1829. Since then no remains in Ahmadnagar of such a head can be traced. The Maratha account states that Rama Raya's head was sent to Benares. Chandorkar, o. c., p.
