3. It is evident that these nobles rebelled against the Regent but not against the young Emperor. All the contemporary inscriptions and grants highly extol the latter’s qualities: in a grant of his successor Sadasiva, King Venkata is called ‘the treasury of wisdom’ ⁸; again he is called ‘an abode XLIX, p. 201-2, calls the Regent Ram Raj. This is another sign of the great confusion of the Muhammadan writers on this period of Vijayanagara history.
