v1.c6.s29.7

On the 26th December the presents wrapped in red cloth were sent in charge of two Dutchmen and the native *wakils* to the Emperor's tents and made over to Khadim Beg Khan. The assistants were detained all night as Bahadur Shah wished them to show and explain the presents one by one. The Emperor took them one by one into his own hands and showed himself much pleased. Intimation came from Donna Juliana that the first audience was fixed for the next day, but the weather being bad a delay was accorded.
