∗ The Berar Gazetteer, 163, says the battle-field lies between the villages of Kolhari and Pimpri Gauli, close to Balapur town (Akola district), Long. 75°80', Lat. 20°40'. The Siwanih-i-Dakhin, 133, describes it as in the taluqa of Pain Ghat in subah Berar. Kamwar Khan, 226, says it was dar sawad-i-Balaghat. According to the Berar Gazetteer, Berar Balaghat is the country above the Ajanta ridge, sloping down south to the ghats or passes which lead up to it, while Berar Painghat lies between the Gaurigarh hills on the north and the outer scraps of the Ajanta hills on the south.
