v1.c7.s7.2
For nearly a century after the death of Indravarman III. the history of Champā is obscure in the extreme. Excepting one doubtful case, to be noticed later on, no epigraphic evidence comes to our help, and we are solely dependent on the Chinese and Annamite annals for guiding us in this dark period. The outstanding event of this period is the Annamite invasion, leading to internal disintegration of the kingdom of Champā, and this sufficiently explains the absence of epigraphic records bearing upon the history of the period.
