³ The sea-route described in the text is derived from the accounts of Sulaymān (851 A.D.), Ibn Khordādzbeh (844-848 A.D.), and Ibn Al-Fakih (902 A.D.). These accounts have been translated by Ferrand (Ferrand-Textes). As Cundur-fulāt is identified with Pulo Condore, it is not easy to understand the route described by the Arab writers, viz., from Kudrang to Champā (10 days), from Champā to Cundur-fulāt (10 days), and then from Cundur-fulāt to China, I have therefore taken these to be alternative routes.
